Simone Burnett was born on March 24th, 2000. She was raised in Cincinnati, OH where she also began dancing at the age of three. In the beginning of her dance career, she only took ballet classes at a small studio called Nancy Norrick’s School of Ballet. At the age of eight she wanted to explore the art of dance more, so she changed studios to learn other dance genres. Simone started attending another smaller dance studio called SDA Studios. Here, is where she started to take dance more serious and knew she wanted to continue dance as a career. She began to take modern, contemporary, tap, and jazz classes and even began pointe when she was ten years old. Along with this, she took part in SDA Studio’s competition ensemble at the age of eleven, and continued this until she was fifteen years old. Simone also learned about summer intensives and went to her first one the summer she turned fifteen. The intensive was called Debbie Allen Dance Academy Summer Intensive. The summer she turned sixteen years old, Simone decided to leave SDA Studios and attend Le Jeune Dance Academy. Le Jeune Dance is a primarily ballet studio that also offered contemporary, modern, and musical theater. At Le Jeune Dance, she participated in numerous ballets such as, their annual production of The Nutcracker, La Fille Mal Gardee, Paquita, and spring concerts. The summer she turned seventeen, she attended the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Summer Intensive for six weeks in New York City. Simone stayed at Le Jeune Dance until she graduated high school as the class of 2018. Simone now continues her dance career at The Ohio State University as a double major with dance and arts management.
